Girl with cerebral palsy is star of new Disney+ film
Today 22 November 2024 Disney+ premieres Out Of My Mind, a film about a teenage girl with cerebral palsy who defies prejudice to flourish and excel.
It follows the story of Melody Brooks, who uses a power wheelchair and is non-verbal, as she moves from a special education class to an inclusive classroom. She has to overcome discrimination and preconceived ideas about her abilities - but goes on to prove her doubters wrong.
A feel-good movie that helps youngsters to understand better the challenges of living with cerebral palsy, Out Of My Mind is a great opportunity to raise awareness about the most common form of childhood-onset physical disability.
