CP360 Family Forum: Early Detection and Intervention
The benefits of early detection and intervention in cerebral palsy are clear for most clinicians and researchers, who want to use the plasticity of the infant brain before the age of two years to significantly improve outcomes in the long term. Yet for most persons with CP, the opportunity to take advantage of that window of opportunity has already passed. Getting the perspective of parents on how best to design an early detection and intervention programme, as well as the testimony of persons with CP on the benefits, is thus a challenge.
CP360 is an initiative involving Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Cerebral Palsy Foundation, ICPS and other partners which is preparing a global campaign to reduce the age at which CP can be reliably detected and to promote effective evidence-based interventions in the first years of a child’s life. The aim of the CP360 Family Forum is to hear from parents of children with CP, as well as adults with CP, on what they would have wished for in terms of early detection and intervention, and what they would propose to design an effective campaign for future generations. We are looking for advocates with lived experience from as many countries as possible to engage in an interactive dialogue with some of the world’s top experts on CP in this online forum.
More details about the CP360 Family Forum will follow.
